The Social Network: Second Teaser Trailer

A few weeks ago, you may remember that we posted an article called "Facebook on Film" outlining Sony Pictures plans to release a movie about Facebook, its origins and CEO/co-founder Mark Zuckerberg, it will based on the book "Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich.Just recently, there was an update of a second teaser trailer - if you have watched the first one it safe to say it was a bit unusual, featuring only just a dialogue of multiple people talking over each other and what exactly they're talking about, it was quite hard to figure out on the first go, backed against a very ominous sounding background tune. The second trailer is not much different however is more visual, featuring the same dialogue of the first one plus few additional new people to help fill in the gaps in the timeline - there are a few that may be recognisable but there is definitely some 'new' faces. Unlike the first trailer which is mainly audio, this video shows the dialogue as status updates rapidly changing (like a regular conversation on someone's status update) only faster with the sound of the keyboard tapping away in the background.  Not to give too much away as you can still watch it below. It is still a little bit confusing, but I guess that is the whole point of it being a teaser.Take a look at the video and if you're wondering who some of the people are, descriptions are underneath. (Information from TechCrunch)This trailer features:

  • Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook co-founder and CEO)
  • Eduardo Saverin (co-founded of Facebook during his last year at Harvard University. His departure from Facebook was the subject of subsequent legal action. He later won the right to have his name listed among the other founders in a lawsuit.)
  • Dustin Moskovitz (co-founder of Facebook – left the company in October 2008)
  • Marilyn Delpy (unknown)
  • Erica Albright (unknown, but the screenplay suggests she was a girl Zuckerberg was dating)
  • Divya Narendra (founder of  ConnectU, a social network that 'sparked' the idea for Facebook, with Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss. ConnectU ended up suing Facebook for stealing the idea and using some of their source code.)
  • Christy Lee (unknown)
  • Tyler Winklevoss (Owner of ConnectU together with his twin brother Cameron and Narendra, ConnectU is previously known as HarvardConnection. In 2004, ConnectU filed a lawsuit against Facebook alleging that Zuckerberg had broken an oral contract with them. The parties reached a confidential settlement agreement in February, 2008.)
  • Cameron Winklevoss (see above)
  • Larry Summers (Lawrence Summers) former President of Harvard University)
  • Sean Parker (In 2004, Parker began informally advising the creators of Facebook, and became its President when the company incorporated that same year. In 2006, Parker joined the Founders Fund, a venture capital fund based in San Francisco, as Managing Partner.)

This second trailer is much better - I might find myself wanting to watch it now, or at least read the book. Release date it set to be sometimes in November in the US. We may be looking at a december release here in New Zealand. What about you?
