Effie finalists announced today

Effie finalists are announced today and all over Auckland ad agencies are holding their collective breath to see who is going to be honoured for making an actual difference to their clients’ businesses this year.

The global version of this self-professed “pre-eminent award” gala was held in New York a couple of months back. Judges at the time pointed out a number of interesting (read: un-surprising) trends amongst the winners including “a marked increase in non-traditional media capabilities”. And by “non-traditional media” they mean twitter, facebook and youtube.

Anyway, it will be interesting to see who takes home some metal at this year’s NZ show. We’ve already seen Air NZ pick up a finalist for the Australian show – let’s see if they do it here as well. The awards gala (which is just a lah-di-dah way of saying booze-up) will be held in the first week of October at SkyCity, which is a bit fancy. Most importantly though, the afterparty will be held at Toto’s. Get your tickets HERE before they all sell out.
