NZ Cops To Get Techy

The big man himself John Key has announced a nationwide rollout of new technology for police means officers which he says will mean they spend more time out on the beat than in the office.6086 frontline officers will start using smartphones and tablets from April this year, and by the middle of next year, 6500 officers will have the new technology.

The tablets and smartphones would be password protected and could be tracked and remotely locked or wiped if they were lost or stolen.Prime Minister Key says that "using mobile technology means officers will be able to check offenders' details, like photographs and bail conditions, where and when they need to, rather than having to drive to a station to access information, or using the police radio".PoliceIn Australia, when you have a child you get a government payment for having a kid. It is was $2,500 the last time I lived there. The government notices that young people were having more kids, but spending the money on TV's and Xboxs - rather then the young kids. I wonder if any young kiwis will join the police force to get their hands on an iPhone and iPad? At a couple of thousand for both, you'd have to image a few would!
