Founded on the 25th of September 2009 SMNZ is a web-based resource bringing all things Social Media from New Zealand and around the world to one dedicated site.

We are made up of a small, but dedicated, team with a range of experience. From those that have been in the industry since it’s inception through to those who have social media embedded in their daily culture.

The team will work hard to bring you the very best news, views and opinions in the industry.

Social Media NZ Editor and Managing Director is Wellington Digital Entrepreneur Tom Reidy.

Tom acquired the site in 2014 with the vision to build on the existing strengths and brand reputation.

    Social Media NZ columnist

    Abby Dalgety is a Senior Academic at Wintec - Te Pūkenga who teaches digital marketing and social media papers within the Bachelor of Communication and Graduate Diploma of Communication qualifications. She also has a research focus on social media in the Aotearoa New Zealand context.

  • Jack Yan

    Brand and Strategic Positioning

    Jack Yan, a trailblazer from New Zealand, revolutionized digital typeface design and founded Lucire, the first online fashion magazine to partner with UN Environment for sustainable fashion. He expanded Lucire into print, showcasing his foresight in digital-to-print transitions. With degrees in law and business from Victoria University of Wellington, Yan's expertise spans branding, intellectual property, and publishing. His notable contributions include launching Autocade, an online car encyclopedia turned print publication, and authoring several key texts in branding and design.
