ChatSq - now you can chat with your foursquare buddy

It's been interesting to see that the talk of the online world recently has been location services, especially the fast-growing Foursquare and other services like Gowalla, Yelp, TriOut and just recently, Facebook Places.The thing about location services, and why they haven't made me quite as excited as the advent of Facebook, Youtube or Twitter, is that they don't really nurture offline relationships. Twitter, Facebook and Youtube enabled me to make long-lasting friends and get to know people that have have had a real impact on my life, and some have even mentored me. To me, location-based services would be more exciting if there were opportunities to meet people who you mightn't have otherwise had the chance to meet, and I guess my prayer was answered with "ChatSq".ChatSq is an app that lets you chat with other people in the same Foursquare location. Here is a video from the team at TechCrunch showing the app in action.The app is not available yet, but we will certainly be reviewing it in depth once it's out. Now, location services have more value to me as a user because of these interaction possibilities. For businesses, this online tool will finally allow them to interact with customers or potential customers, instead of just seeing them 'check-in'. And let's not forget how this might finally give you the courage talk to that girl you see at Starbucks every morning before work...
