The Blacklist: the not so "cool" one

Usually when you think of "The List" it's often something exclusive, something cool that only certain people end up on. Well now there's a list that maybe you don't want to be on: The Blacklist. What is The Blacklist? Its a new free service available to all Vodafone customers to block text and multimedia messages from certain senders you nominate. Feeling hassled by texts? Getting sent something dodgy from a number all the time? Simply type "BLACKLIST ADD (mobile number)" to 713 and you will no longer be bothered by them.As mentioned in the post about bullying on Facebook, bullying has moved beyond the playground - it not only happens online but can also occur via text. The Blacklist is definitely a long-awaited service in the action against text bullying and a smart move on Vodafone's behalf, as they are currently the only telecommunications provider to have a service like this. One thing is for sure, it is easier to blacklist someone's number than get a completely new number. The person who is blacklisted won't be notified - as it falls under privacy law that Vodafone is not allowed to disclose that information. The same applies to viewing your personal Blacklist - only you or a Customer Service Representative under request can see the list.Seems like there might be a catch? Well there is a slight one: unfortunately you can't block someone from calling, you can only block texts or picture messages - but since you are able to screen calls or at least choose to answer a call, it is a fairly small set back. Other limitations that may apply are: you can only blacklist 20 numbers - so if you happen to have more, you will have to remove one on the existing list. For all the facts and conditions you can view them here.So if you're getting annoying texts from a jealous ex or a crazy stalker, you have the power to really cut them off: just Blacklist them. What do you think of this new service?
