Social Media NZ Weekly Wrap-Up 29/11/2010

The Social-Lite: Episode 2 from Social Media NZ on Vimeo.

With just a few days before the silly season begins, it's almost time to reflect on the biggest social media stories of the year. However, first we'd like to mention two things: last week New Zealand suffered a massive loss with the Pike River mine blast, and we here at Social Media NZ would like to send our condolences to those affected by the tragic event. Secondly, we'd like to say a massive thank you to our readers who responded to and shared our first "Social-Lite" video, we really appreciate the feedback you've given us regarding this exciting new venture. Here are this week's top social media and technology happenings:* Twitter enabled the world to send their well-wishes to NZ in the wake of the Pike River tragedy.* Our "Eye on Asia" post this week looks at how Google could have succeeded in its foray into the Chinese market.* Libbie Lee investigates: Why isn’t social media being taught as part of students’ curricula?* An interesting experiment went down this week called the "Public Isolated Project", focusing on how social media affects our daily lives.* A new "Twitter Analytics" feature should arrive before Christmas - what's it all about?* This week Google Maps for Android was updated to include "driving and walking” navigation.* Facebook are working on a feature that allows users to set the site as their homepage with a one-click button.
Video of the Week: Are you suffering from social media overload ?
