Twitpic updates service to include video functionality

"Google it", and "Add me on Facebook" have both become a regular part of 21st century vernacular. Trailing not far behind is "Are you going to Twitpic that?", which, in English, refers the taking of a picture and posting it on Twitter. Twitpic itself has 17 million users, and it's being reported they are getting 30,000 new users everyday.Just yesterday, Twitpic added video functionality to their service, so users can now upload pictures and videos via their website or through mobile phone applications.Sharing pictures on Twitter has changed the landscape of journalism, and Twitpic has been where many of the most memorable pictures have been posted. Some notable examples include the Haiti earthquake [Warning: picture is very graphic], the Hudson River plane crash, the Iran protests, the Christchurch earthquake and the recent Egypt protests.Mashable reporter Jolie O'Dell recently posted a video to her Twitpic account showing off the new functionality:It will be interesting to see if Twitpic keep their name, considering the introduction of video to the service, or perhaps look at acquiring Twitvid, a competing video upload service.
