Why Facebook Dislike a Dislike Button

Facebook won't be adding a "dislike" button to the news feed anytime soon according to product engineer Bob Baldwin.facebook dislike buttonHe said "Actions on Facebook tend to focus on positive social interactions. Like is the lightest-weight way to express positive sentiment. I don't think adding a light-weight way to express negative sentiment would be that valuable. I know there are times when it'd make sense, like when a friend is having a rough day, or got into a car accident like my sister yesterday (she's okay!). For these times, a nice comment from a friend goes a long way."I think there is enough negativity in the world, and tend to agree with Bob (love that name by the way). For those times where these is a bit of bad news (only every now and then though, it's not like Facebook is FULLED with people whinging or anything) then either a 'I'm sorry mate' or a 'Let's move this extreeeeeemly personal conversation over to private messages before you say something you will regret' goes a lot further than simply clicking a dislike button. What do you all think?
