Facebook catches up to Twitter with new verify function.

Celebs rejoice! We can now ensure we stalk you, and ONLY you on Facebook. Yesterday, Facebook announced their new “verified Pages” to help people like me who are obsessed with with Robert Pattinson to find authentic accounts, and not impersonators or fan pages. Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy being a fan of 500 different RPatz pages (it means more hot RPatz pictures in my newsfeed) but still, it would be nice to know that the RPatz news I was getting from DA REAL ROB-ROB PATTINSON was, well, real.

When you are looking around Facebook and searching for your authentic celeb, the new mark to look for is a small, blue check beside their name on their timeline – similar to Twitter – but since it’s a totally different shade of blue, and the font is different, it’s a totally different thing.

As you can see from the shots below, the biebs GF has been authenticated (even though it’s more like her team writing on her FB than her, but you know, semantics). You can see the tick on her timeline and when you search for her name.

To stop every man and his dog claiming to be RPatz (or Selena for that matter) only Facebook will be able to verify who you are. I honestly can’t think of a reason it has taken them so long to copy Twitter on this. Can you?
